Cape Ann Brewing – Fisherman’s Pumpkin Stout (2015)

04 Sep

Every year, I look more and more forward to this luxuriously colored sessionable stout that smells of smokey espresso and melted chocolate. With a lighter body than you’d expect, the pumpkin creates creamy ribbons that fold around the allspice, nutmeg, and cinnamon inside the demitasse of roasted espresso goodness.

Dark, grizzled, smokey on the outside, warm, rich, creamy on the inside. If this stout read Hemingway, I’d ask it to dinner. 85/100

Nic’s thoughts from a past year: A solid warming stout enriched by tasty but delicate pumpkin, which is perfectly balanced by the light fall spices. Like putting on that favorite fall sweater for the first time. 82/100
