Southampton Publick House – Pumpkin Ale (2014)

12 Sep

NicAA: Vanilla and clove emanate from this amber pour, giving way to hints of cinnamon and brown sugar. Frothy head, moderate lacing. 7/10

NicTM: Clove at the forefront, moves onto quite a lot of carbonation, leading to sweet pumpkin and muted fall spice. Fairly thin. 6/10

NicP: A good amount of pumpkin, it is fresh tasting but a little bland, as pumpkin can often be without great spicing compliment. 5p

NicO: Not bad exactly, but sadly forgettable. Too much carbonation and too few layers. I’d like more vanilla, maybe some ginger and orange zest to bring it together. The Keanu Reeves of pumpkin beers. 72/100

AlexAA: jewel-like russet color w/ heavy pumpkin and light nutmeg scent 7/10

AlexTM: this ale has a lighter mouthfeel and sweet, oaky quality where cloves and all-spice dominate their counterpart nutmeg. 7/10

AlexP: Subtle in taste, brassy in aroma – there’s more of a sweet squashiness than a gob of gourdiness here. 3P

AlexO: Tastes like autumn – rich hues of crimson and gold, but more as a solid Oktoberfest bier. 71/100
