Wolaver’s Fine Organic Ales – Pumpkin Ale (2014)

08 Sep

AlexAA: Sweet pumpkin coated in cinnamon & caramel overtakes the aroma of this misty amber ale. 9/10

AlexTM: Dry, slightly bitterness that supports gobs of fresh pumpkin, nutmeg, and a solid brown sugar footing. 7/10

AlexP: With the copious amount of organic pumpkins used, you’d think they brewed the ale in the gourd itself. 6P

AlexO: This crunchy ale could stand to ease up on the incense-style spicing and let it’s sweet pumpkin meat stand more au naturale. 75/100

NicAA: Jovial orange w. huge nose of fresh pumpkin meat, subtle cinnamon, ginger. Good head, fair lacing. 8/10

NicTM: Bittersweet malt, light pine hop, then big gourd. The spices here are fairly light but a little unbalanced toward cinnamon. A touch of brown sugar lightens the mix. 7/10

NicP: It’s nice to get a pumpkin ale which really does showcase the main event, the pumpkin. No complaints, good, fresh tasting and plenty. 6p

NicO: A simple, rough-around-the edges farm-style pumpkin ale, but therein lies its charm. Pleasingly and unapologetically crunchy. Pairs well with barns, hay, and orange foliage. 79/100
