Smuttynose Brewing Co. – Pumpkin Ale (2014)

06 Sep

NicAA: Bright orange, Good whiff of pumpkin and light clove/cinnamon. Piney hop aroma. Great lacing, 8/10

NicTM: Light body, hoppier than most pumpkins. Great piney hop finish, really well balanced. Moderate carbonation. 9/10

NicP: Smooth and nicely not overpowered by the spice. Hops compliment it well. 4p

NicO:Summer/fall hybrid hoppy pumpkin that’s great for those not hugely into spice. Sessionable. Fall pool party anyone? 85/100

AlexAA: spicy cloves creep out from the initial gust of cinnamon in the aroma from this glowing marigold-hued ale 8/10

AlexTM: Fleshy, watery pumpkin all hopped up for Autumn – cloves take the lead in this spicy, light-bodied ale, w/ nutmeg and cinnamon as a shadowy after thought. 9/10

AlexP: As a Mainer, the pumpkin here is exactly how I want it – so fresh that it’s still covered in dirt and attached to a vine behind the house – tastes surprisingly naked for the amount of spice in the ale. 5P

AlexO: When your mind is ready for fall, and the days are humid as f*@k, this ale bridges the gap with an edge keeping it light enough for dollops of fresh pumpkin and spicy crispness. 85/100
