River Horse Brewing – Hipp O Lantern Imperial Pumpkin (2013)

03 Oct

NicAA: Turbulent, muddy brew with lingering head. Scents of pumpkin puree, touch of vanilla, and light fall spices. 8/10

NicTM: Med body/carb. Lighter malt into boozy pumpkin, orange peel, cinnamon and clove; like boozy, fruity pumpkin punch. 9/10

NicP: There’s a lot of pumpkin in this but it’s tasty. There’s a ton going on in this beer, but pumpkin is a main player. 7p

NicO: “A bunch of ingredients, but none are showboating”. Classy, complex, balanced. Like a badger on a unicycle. 89/100

AlexAA: dense, cloudy copper with a nose filled w/ pumpkin puree and light cinnamon and brown sugar 9/10

AlexTM: pumpkin & sweet malts hit 1st w/ a dense body that quickly fades into light bitterness, lightly spiced w/ nutmeg 7/10

AlexP: Pumpkin puree makes for a an initially hefty body, but light spicing makes it less defined in taste, lightly toasted 6P

AlexO: For the complexities, I think alcohol gets in the way of subtle nuances of dollops of puree & delicate spicing. 82/100
