Weyerbacher Brewing Co. – Imperial Pumpkin Ale (2012)

28 Aug

AlexAA: a deep amber with traces of scarlet and reddish hue, scent is heavy-laden with cinnamon, pumpkin, and brown sugar 9/10

AlexTM: chocolate + espresso to the malt, more forwardness from cardamom in taste, hops balance sweetness of scent to spiced smoothness 8/10

AlexP: Wisely portioned amount of pumpkin – cloves + nutmeg serve to adorn it as a main course, and not a fluffy dessert afterthought 5/10

AlexO: The most “aged” of the pumpkin ales – spiced + weathered, complex + someone you would want to talk to for hours into the night 93/100

NicAA: Pours a rich, deep, hazy copper, small head. Rich + complex nose of pumpkin, clove and cinnamon upfront, faint whiff of alcohol. 9/10

NicTM: Quite a bit of cinnamon upfront along with the pumpkin, then the other spices join to round out the flavor. Slight burnt taste+alcohol burn right at the end. 9/10

NicP: Trussed up nicely in a complimentary blend of spices. One of the upfront pumpkin beers, this has a good amount of gourd. 7 pumpkins

NicO: A big, warming pumpkin that has a pretty bang-on spice blend. Rich and complex, I’m sorry I have missed this in previous falls. 89/100
