Southampton Publick House – Pumpkin Ale (2012)

28 Aug

NicAA: Cloudy burnt copper with good 1/3 inch orange foam, fair retention. Nutmeg and some allspice, clove, and a good pumpkin aroma. 8/10

NicTM: Quite carbonated, light to med body. Cloves and allspice, along with some cinnamon are the dominant spices. Pumpkin is mild in flavor. 8/10

NicP: Not overwhelming but sweet and pleasant pumpkin taste. Faint in the taste but more present in the aroma. 2 pumpkins

NicO: A tasty fall ale, and something I might well pick up for a fall yard party or tailgate. Not huge on the pumpkin, but balanced. 85/100

AlexAA: dense, cloudy copper w/ 1/8 cream foam head, nutmeg owns this aroma w/light pumpkin and vanilla 7/10

AlexTM: nutmeg and cloves overwhelm this spicy ale, and create an oakiness in combo with the mild hops. Aftertaste is slightly sour. 6/10

AlexP: More characterized in aroma of this beer than in the body of it, tho they are there. The balance makes them almost an afterthought 3/10

AlexO: A hit for those seeking an unsweetened seasonal pumpkin – a rarity, true, but the balance is skewed w/ a heavy hand on nutmeg. 72/100
