McAuslan Brewing – St Ambroise Citrouille (Pumpkin) (2012)

28 Aug

NicAA:  Deep copper, perfectly clear, with 1/3 inch head that goes fast. Cinnamon, nutmeg + a little clove, + a good whiff of pumpkin. 8/10

NicTM: Quite a lot of clove +cinnamon upfront, which dominate the other spices. Pumpkin taste comes in before a slightly bitter finish. 7/10

NicP: The pumpkin here is pretty noticeable in the aroma but less so in the taste as the spice balance seems slightly off. 3 pumpkins

NicO: Sadly to me falls into the “smells great, tastes average” category. Just not enough flavor to box with the big boys.  75/100

St Ambroise

AlexAA: transparent, rusty color with an air of pumpkin, ginger, and slight alcohol that dissipates 8/10

AlexTM: Very light bodied and bittersweet w/ cinnamon, cloves and caramel, a distinct dryness to it 7/10

AlexP: Lots of pumpkin here, but perhaps just a bit too much for the spice considering how dry the finish of this ale is 7/10

AlexO: This is the sherry of the pumpkins – sweet, tart, dry, bitter. It’s for after dessert, but I’d bring a friend to share it with 75/100
