Jolly Pumpkin Artisanal Ales – La Parcela No.1 Pumpkin Ale (2012)

28 Aug

NicAA: Rich and unfiltered, a murky amber pour with a thick lasting head. Smells of sour pumpkin and very subtle spice, very inviting! 9/10

NicTM: Thick w. yeasty sourness, lightly carbonated, lightly spiced but complex. Fantastic oaky flavor in the finish +VERY light cacao. 9/10

NicP: Moderate helping of fresh gourd here complimented by very light spice and the oak aging. Pumpkin works real well as a sour. 4 pumpkins

NicO: A lip-smackingly tasty sour, complex but not overpowering, it really works. It left me jolly. And other things ending in “olly”.89/100

AlexAA: dense, cloudy orange, a lighter clementine-side color, I can already smell the sour mash – decent amount of head 8/10

AlexTM: INSTANT SOUR – there’s pumpkin, but it’s a tart profile – flowery flavors + bitterness does fade into slight spicy mellowness 6/10

AlexP: Imbalanced…there’s pumpkin, but there’s such a large amount devoted to sourness, that the pumpkin is overshadowed. 2/10

AlexO: Very interesting contrast to majority of pumpkin ales – I love the contrast of this sour bitch, but a little goes a long way. 71/100
