Elysian Brewing – Hansel & Gretel Ginger Pumpkin Pilsener (2012)

28 Aug

AlexAA: cloudy, goldenrod, frothy misting of head w/ visible carbonation, ginger and citrus notes rise from a distance, even 9/10

AlexTM: light barley malt with touches of lemon, they are the back-ups to ginger, very dry finish after moderate fizz 9/10

AlexP: If you strain, you can taste the small trace of pumpkin in this pilsener – but the ginger makes sure you work for it. 2/10

AlexO: This fairy tale takes you straight to the finest pilseners of the Czech Republic – BIG carbonation, but spiced whimsically. 91/100

NicAA:  Golden hazy pour with thick head and good retention/lacing. Like a hoppy ginger beer, so refreshing! Then, pumpkin 9/10

NicTM: Tastes WAY more hoppy than the nose, with a bitter bite followed by ginger and a little pumpkin. Ginger beer with hops. 9/10

NicP: Ginger and hops are the powerful flavors but the pumpkin peeks out from behind the gingerbread door and provides sweetness. 2 pumpkins

NicO: Light, snappy +delicious, a refreshingly brilliant beer. If I saw this in the oven at the gingerbread house, I’d climb right in. 95/100
