DSenSationAle Laboratories – Pumped Up Pumpkin Ale (2012)

28 Aug

NicAA:  Dark cola-colored ale with no head. Aroma is very sweet and full of spice, a little like mulled wine. Nutmeg, maybe some cloves. 7/10

NicTM: V. heavy, a little cloying, chock full of spice. Vanilla, sweet malt, cloves + nutmeg in good quantity. Little alcohol in finish.7/10

NicP: A pretty huge complex beer, with a lot of spice and high alcohol. Pumpkin comes through a little in the end as it warms. 3 pumpkins

NicO: A big winter-warmer pumpkin, thick, full bodied, almost barleywine-like. Needs more carbonation, but that’s an easy fix. 73/100

AlexAA: AA: teak tinted, no head ale with heavy dollops of vanilla and thickness to the scent, very light nutmeg + ginger comes through 7/10

AlexTM: barely carbonated, smooth, syrupy. cloves, nutmeg + vanilla are the big 3 here, pumpkin peeks thru the heavy curtains of flavor 7/10

AlexP: The amount of pumpkin weaves the strong flavor profile together nicely, and the style leans toward a saison quality. 4/10

AlexO: Body-warming beer for in front of a fire, missing carbonation – would reveal the balance better by lightening the complex palate. 74/100
