Smuttynose Brewing Co. – Pumpkin (2012)

27 Aug

Nic AA: Very little head or lacing, pours a nice hazy amber. The aroma is strongly pumpkin puree and cinnamon, malt sweetness and nutmeg. Great first impression. 8/10

Nic TM: Body is surprisingly light, strong early tastes of cinnamon and nutmeg with clove hints, then piney and earthy tones. Very pleasant and hoppy. Complex, but not overly. 9/10

Nic P: Not overwhelming. Taste is definitely less “pumpkin” than the smell suggests. Strong spices make this interesting. I’m gonna go with 4/10 for pumpkininess for this one.

Nic O: I like this beer a LOT. It’s an easy drinking pumpkin, which many cannot claim. I know it’s early in the game, but I would drink this again for sure. 90/100

Alex AA: beautiful cloudy amber w/ small lacing, strong nutmeg aroma, faint sweetness to it, light on pumpkin tho 7/10

Alex TM: TM: bitter, carbonated onset to taste followed by flood of full allspice and nutmeg, light bodied, VERY carbonated beer 6/10

Alex P: Not enough pumpkin taste to my palate – quite light. 2/10

Alex O: This is a solid AUTUMN ale, but the spice overpowers the pumpkin. I would pair this with a hearty warm meal, like beef stew. 65/100
