Cape Ann Brewing – Fisherman’s Pumpkin Stout (2012)

27 Aug

NicAA: Deep rich brown with brown tinted ¼ inch head. Chocolatey aroma, with nutmeg, and roasted malt. VERY subtle pumpkin scent. 8/10

NicTM: Nice roasted malt taste upfront, the pumpkin and spices come in the finish in this beer. Smooth, quite thin, low carbonation. 8/10

NicP: Not too much of it, but that works well. The pumpkin works better than I had expected in a stout because it’s not overdone. 3 pumpkins

NicO: This is an interesting take on the pumpkin beer genre. The Fisherman has a solid catch here, and I’d reel in a couple more. 80/100

Alex AA: roasted espresso chocolate malt – dense luxurious brown, with minute cream-toned head 8/10

AlexTM: Malt is forward + present, fades into slight flavoring of vanilla + nutmeg, pumpkin is there, an afterthought, rather creamy 8/10

Alex P: Not oppressive, but not substantial – for a stout, perhaps the right amount, allowing the espresso overtones to be dictatorial 2/10

AlexO: Full, but not thick. Filling, but not oppressive – what you want in a stout. A dash of pumpkin to boot. Will take you into winter. 81/100
