Blue Hills Brewery – Stingy Jack Pumpkin Lager (2012)

27 Aug

NicAA: Darker than anticipated, with 1/3 inch cream head and good retention. Sweet then citrusy aroma like lemon zest. VERY light spice 5/10

NicTM: Medium body, moderate carbonation. Almost unripe pumpkin meaty taste. Not much on the spice front. Floral notes in the finish. 5/10

NicP: This is a weird one for me, the pumpkin is there but it is very raw tasting, an almost cloying at the end. Maybe too much. 8 pumpkins

NicO: I feel like I chewed a raw pumpkin. Sorry, but Stingy Jack can carry on his eternal journey without stopping at my beerfridge. 52/100

Alex AA: cloudy denseness, yet light-toned amber, with a slight head. Tangy aroma of barley, with a sharpness – like raw veggies 5/10

AlexTM: Maintains the barley but is filled out w/ carbonation a small bit of caramel. Underspiced, if that’s a thing – aftertaste is sour 3/10

AlexP: It’s almost like an unripened pumpkin quality – very water-logged and not enough of a developed profile to hold it’s own. 1/10

AlexO: To those who hate nutmeg, cinnamon + other typical pumpkin seasonings, this raw (unfinished) beer might be for you…but not for me. 22/100
